The Bldgs Inspector: Friend or Foe?

FRIEND...DEFINITELY!

The Inspector is the only thing standing between you and hidden problems in or around your home.
Mistakes are made...this is a fact of life. The more people who's job it is to just WATCH,
the better. The inspector is not bothered by time...he or she is not in a rush to finish anything. He/she is not paid by the hour or day or even productivity on your job-site.
They are there for one reason....to LOOK objectively at what is being done to make sure
it is being done correctly and TO CODE.

Inspectors, contrary to popular belief, do not intentionally hold up jobs. There is nothing
to be gained by this. In fact, it makes their workload bigger, because job-sites that
require extra visits are MORE WORK, NOT LESS!

An inspector wants to enter the site, see good work, request changes if they are needed, and see those changes completed when he/she returns. If that is done, then the
inspections are fast and the job will move right along...almost as fast as the contractor
can perform the work.

Think of it this way...you are making a tremendous financial investment into your home.
The Inspector is the one who will make certain that you are actually getting the quality of work that you have paid for and deserve.
When the Inspector see something he/she doesn't like...it's time for you to take notice and say 'Thank You for protecting my interests'.
